Orchard Update April 12, 2018

So many of us are tired of “Sprinter” the mix of Spring and winter, our orchard trees are actually thriving from it! With a very warm February, it was looking like it would have a very negative effect on our trees, some were coming out of dormancy prematurely, and the warm weather, if it would have kept up, could have made some trees blossom too early to produce a good harvest. Luckily, with the cold and damp weather that we as humans have come to detest, it gave our trees a chance to catch up, and we are now looking at what should be a very good and bountiful harvest. Our plum trees are showing signs of blooming and should be in full bloom by this weekend.  While we had to bundle up for a bit longer than normal, it looks like warmer weather and great local and fresh tree fruit is just around the corner.
