The Importance of Holiday Traditions

Tis the season for traditions. You know what I’m talking about. There are things you do every time this season hits… those little things your family looks forward to. The important moments and memories.

And the truth is, traditions are so important this time of year.

Disclosure: This blogger has partnered with Kauffman’s Fruit Farm to review and post about products that they receive for free. Original post appeared on Sugar Crumbs.

The Importance of Holiday Traditions

1. They teach us a sense of belonging.

Traditions have the power to bring people together. And when they do, the people involved feel a sense of being a part of something bigger. Sometimes you might not even realize that’s what that comforting feeling is but feeling security in where you are with the people around you is so incredibly important.

2. They teach us to be intentional.

Being intentional is an important characteristic. By having traditions and following them, you’re learning to be intentional with your time and efforts. This is so important, especially for children as they are learning and developing those important characteristics.

3. Traditions help us reflect in a meaningful way.

When you think about traditions, you know that you’re not just thinking about those cookies you’re going to make with your mom. Or that sleigh ride you’ll take with your kids. You’re thinking about the life you have, the people you have the blessing of being involved with. The beauty of the life that you have~

4. It’s a wonderful opportunity to focus on the positivity in life.

No matter what’s going on in your world, traditions offer respite from stress and anxiety. They allow us to seek shelter from day to day issues and find comfort with family and friends. It’s a momentary vacation.

5. It’s speaks to our heritage.

The Importance of Holiday Traditions

See… there are so many reasons that traditions are important, beyond the end result of a good time. I was lucky enough to be able to get a copy of Faith, Family & Fruit: The Core of Our Business from Kauffmans Fruit Farm and this book really exemplifies tradition among family and business. It tells the story of a family growing in their faith and family though coming together in a traditional fashion

Many traditions come from generations before us. And this is an amazing way to keep that past, that heritage alive. And there is nothing more amazing than remembering where you came from.

The Importance of Holiday Traditions

Each page is loaded with the story of the Kauffmans Fruit Farm business and recipes that have been passed through time. It’s like being invited into their home and their traditions. Nothing makes me happier than feeling invited in.

So tell me. What traditions make you feel invited in?

Until next time, Happy Saturday!
